WHO is Damascus Road?

Damascus Road consists of a diverse number of people from different ages, backgrounds, and styles. We're not some sort of "club" with kool-aid and secret handshakes. We're simply a community of people sold out to the gospel of Jesus, not afraid to admit our weaknesses, laugh at ourselves, and enjoy life. Whoever you are, we want to welcome you with open arms and make you feel right at home. Learn more about our name and what we believe.

WHEN does Damascus Road meet?

We meet on Sunday mornings at 9:00 & 10:45 am

WHERE does Damascus Road meet?

Damascus Road does not have it's own building. We meet at 1050 State Ave, in Marysville, WA.  We are across the street from City Hall and next door to Gold's Gym.   If you need directions you can click here for directions from Google maps. Once you arrive at the school, enter the West entrance and go down the main hallway toward the gym.

What should you WEAR?

That's simple, wear what you feel is comfortable. We're very relaxed.  As much as we would love to help you pick out your outfit, this is up to you. The environment is informal, so come as you are. There is no need to dress up and be someone you're not. On any given day you might see an occasional tie, some flip-flops, dresses, shorts, or jeans with holes. Other than American Flag embossed speedos, which we vehemently frown upon, we don't expect anyone to look a particular way.

What about our KIDS?

We are grateful God has blessed us with a lot children.  We believe in shepherding our children not just babysitting them.  We believe our children can handle biblical truth at a young age.  So, we don't have inflatables or monkey bars.  We are, however, intentional about our children enjoying their experience as they learn about Jesus.  We have children's classes up to age 10. As you come down the hallway toward the gym, there are stations set up for you to drop off your kids.

What will you EXPERIENCE at a typical gathering?

Going somewhere for the first time can be a bit intimidating if you don't know what is going to actually happen. To avoid any worries, here is a basic summary of a typical service:

WORSHIP:  Our service begins with a song. Feel free to sing or just enjoy listening.  It is rare for anyone to gather with a group of people to sing.  We see this as a way to worship God with our voices together.  The first song is followed by announcements about upcoming events or other news. Following that, we willl continue worshipping God through song.  Sometimes it is a full band blasting and other times it is an acoustic guitar and a singer.  We have several different bands so you will experience a different "flavor" of music each week.

SERMON: The sermon will come next.  The pastor will take you through a passage in the Bible where we will study who God is, who we are, and how we understand the world we live in.  Typically, we will be going verse by verse through books of the Bible.  If you don't have a Bible we have free ones you can grab when you walk in.  There are also usually study guides to help understand the text.

COMMUNION & WORSHIP RESPONSE:  Following the sermon we will enter into a time of communion where we remind ourselves of Jesus death and resurrection.  We do not pass a plate of wafers or a bucket for money.  We believe giving is an act of worship and should be active.  You will see people get up during the song to take the bread and wine/juice.  Like our singing, this is a community experience.  Jesus died for the church and those who believe in Jesus participate.   During this time, the band will play three songs as we respond to what we've heard from God's Word.

We'll close the service with prayer and enjoy fellowship over coffee.

Should you give?

If you're a guest, please don't give.  Like communion, we believe giving is an active part of worship.  God isn't interested in your money and neither are we.  Giving God a check before you've given him your heart will do nothing for anyone. There are people who attend who have committed to supporting this mission. If you haven't accepted Jesus as your savior, don't give, receive the free gift of salvation through faith in Jesus death on the cross.  If you have accept Jesus, we'd ask you to consider how you worship God with ALL that you have, including your money.

Does Damascus Road only gather on Sunday mornings?

We gather together as a church on Sundays at 9:00am and 10:45am.  Our youth gather on Sunday evenings in a member's home.  During the week, like Jesus, we spend most of our time dwelling in the world, loving it, and redeeming it with truth. We encourage all of our members to join our R.O.A.D. groups (our version of community groups) which meet at various times and places during the week.  Sometimes we have large group Bible studies in lieu of Road Groups.
