Why have an online community?
When God created the world, He declared His creation to be good (Gen 1.31). There was one thing that God stated was not good. "It is not good that man should be alone" (Gen 2.18). God created man in His image; the image of a triune God existing in a perfect community. In the model of His image, people were created uniquely for relationship with one another. Online communities (Myspace, Facebook) have become extremely popular because they fulfill this desire for community without the messiness that comes with actual relationship. The Damascus Road Network is intended to enhance, not create, an already existing church community.

What can I do on the online community?
The online community serves as a hub of information for events.  Announcements, updates, and reminders will be sent through this system.  Additionally, we trust our network will:

  • Provide another place of community contact between the people in the church
  • Create a means of communication between the leaders and congregation effectively convey our shared mission and the help define the place that each member plays in that mission
  • Allow a comfortable place to be open, honest, and vulnerable with people who love and care
  • Enjoy online dialogue about gospel, culture, and church
