We believe that Jesus loved to teach children and that they can handle bibilcal truth at a young age. Therefore, we provide limited children's ministry because we desire to see kids hearing the same message as their parents. A major focus at Damascus Road, is unity. We want families learning together, serving together, and worshiping together. Instead of breaking everyone into splinters- similar to what happens all week, we want to have community as families, and community as a church.

the DIRT on Kid's ROAD

Children's ministry is currently available for Infants up to Age 7, and hope to include up to Age 9 by Summer 2007.  We are currently using a curriculum from John Piper's ministry called "Children Desiring God". See www.childrendesiringgod.org to learn more about this curriculum.

For the 2-3 year olds we are teaching the stories of the New Testament called "He Has Spoken By His Son." We show how the "New Testament unfolds the wonder and power of Jesus Christ. This curriculum explores the greatness of God in Christ by noting key themes found chronologically throughout the New Testament." - (Quoted from the curriculum intro.) One story is called "Jesus Calms the Storm with a Word", from Mark 4:35-41.

For the 4-7 year olds we are using "Jesus, What a Savior! A Study for Children on Redemption", also written by Children Desiring God. There are 40 lessons, also Chronologically studied, that show we need a Savior, and how Jesus came to save and change imperfect, sinful people.

At Damascus Road, we share the opinion of the curriculum writers that, "a faith that weathers the storms of life and bears fruit for the glory of God--is nurtured by a systematic plan to partner with parents in communicating the greatness of God, the glory of Christ, and the power of the Gospel. We want children to become so acquainted with the Word of God that they treasure Him alone as the One who saves and satisfies the heart. The goal of our curriculum is to fuel spiritual desire in children by exalting the greatness and worth of God and His glorious work through Christ."
