Brad's Story

Brad Loomis is the worship leader of Damascus Road Church and heads up our band, Barabas.  He has recently returned back to his hometown of Marysville where he lives with his wife, Kimberly, and their 2 children.  (With one more on the way!)

Music has always been a giant part of Brad's life.  He sung in choir all through high school and isn't afraid to admit he's even performed some opera.  He is a self-taught guitarist and music writer.  He also runs the sound board and has experience with album recording, mixing and producing as well as running live shows.  Brad is very passionate about his role as lead worshiper and does many things to help bring the congregation into communal worship of God.  This is accomplished by writing original music, arranging and re-writing the music of classic hymns and playing secular music to display the perspective of a lost world.   He has the privilege to be joined by the musicians who form Barabas, who contribute priceless creativity and talent to DRC's worship in music.

Brad bears the burden of a complicated past, but this only serves to prove that God had His hand on Brad's life from the beginning.  The birth of his firstborn in 2001 struck him with an undeniable belief that not only did God exist, but was calling Brad to find out more about Him.  He began attending Snohomish Community Church.  After 6 months he began to meet with a wonderful friend and they went through a bible study explaining the basics of Christianity.  He was born again in 2003 at the age of 24.  Since then he has served in the church from minor capacities all the way to helping run elementary school ministry.  He has felt the desire to serve God from the first days of his salvation.

As far as free time goes, there isn't too much of it!  Between working full time and building the ministry Brad loves to spend time with his family.  He likes to watch football, loves movies and should probably buy stock in NetFlix.  Of course he enjoys good music of almost all genres (excluding country...sorry y'all!) and likes to find obscure bands and unknown artists to listen to.  When it's possible he also enjoys playing basketball and his new love, golf.

While many of the leadership at DRC may say that they were unsure or hesitant to join in church planting, Brad and Kim knew God was calling them to something big apart from the church they were attending.  Then along came Sam, with his vision for Damascus Road Church.  Brad and Kim were certain this was what they were waiting for and hopped on board immediately.  They have been delighted to be a part of this journey.  Brad is currently studying to become an Elder and is honored to have this opportunity to use his talents and passions for the glory God.
