Aaron's story

A Closet Rebel Gets Skinned on Pavement

I grew up in Bothell, WA in a Christian home where I learned about Jesus at age 5, and then perfected being a closet rebel up to age 16. I knew the rules, and knew about God's unconditional love, but really, it wasn't central. It was a "been-there, done- that-what's next?" indifferent kind of commitment.

Riding my BMX bike, in T-shirt & shorts, on a busy street, my invincible self got slammed onto the pavement perplexed at what happened. I got up, dizzy, and realized I had just been hit by a car going 45 mph. Joking with the paramedics 30 minutes later, I got stitches in my head, and was back at school the next day.

Injured, Aaron Meets the Supernatural - A Second Damascus Road Experience

About a week later, I discovered my left shoulder cracked & clicked, and was on my way to an orthopedic surgeon visit. This was a major concern, as I play the violin, and was considering going pro. That month I went to a youth camp, where I witnessed people getting prayed for, and getting healed. It was Sunday, and they wanted to pray for people injured in car accidents- and I went forward, doubting but hoping.

After a simple prayer, and hands on my shoulder, I sat back down afraid to move. After 2 hours of mystery, I found my shoulder restored- and I'm positive it wasn't MY faith. It was Jesus, showing me He saved my life, and healed my shoulder in an accident that could have killed me. My girlfriend met Jesus that weekend, our relationship got righted from wrongs, and what can I say now but WOW! I was a walking testimonial at Bothell High School until I graduated in 1988.

From the Road of the Past- Fast Forward to TodayWartes Family

I now live in Monroe, WA, and have a high classed wife named Kandice, a piano teacher and skin care consultant, who gave me 4 kids: Carmen 14, David 12, Harrison 12, and Alex 8. We only admit in public they are ours, when they're good like all parents do. Other days, we want to do a "reverse-adoption" program (a new ministry idea for our church plant!). Carmen's most often used phrase is, "Harrison, David, stop hitting me!!" We don't leave them at home alone too often.

I work in Everett, as a Financial Advisor, and enjoy the quizzical looks on people's faces when I tell them we have started a church. I love where God has us now, planting an "un-church" for the indifferent & searching souls in Marysville with some of the best friends I've ever had. We are living and sharing the TRUTH that has permanently changed millions of lives.

I have the role, of heading up the Children's Ministry, "Kids Road Rage" (OR "Kids Road Rascals") at DRC. Want to help? Want to be part of a mission that's worth your energies? Weary of being bored and want a Life that's bigger than you? Want to learn how to be a role model for your kids spiritually?

Join us! You are welcome, no matter where you've travelled, or what you've done, you need to get your own Damascus Road experience. You won't look back!
